Disabled people are considered normal due to the fact that they are unable to perform certain activities which are considered normal in a certain range.
Several debates have transpired in the past over the meanings of these terms. Since the 1970’s, international organizations like World Health Organizations (WHO), disability academics, disabled people and disability activist have been debating over an accepted definition. As a result, there has not been a single accepted definition of disability.
Disability according to WHO has been defined as any restriction resulting from an impairment of ability to perform an activity in the manner or within the range considered for a human being.
There have been several perceptions about disabled people which are not entirely true.
- It is believed that when you are disabled, you are asexual
- They cannot reproduce that’s they are infertile to give birth
- They cannot work in any job you are being given.
- The likelihood of giving birth to a child with the same issue of impairment is high.
THE TRUTH NEEDS TO BE TOLD…..
Being disabled doesn’t mean that you can’t fulfill some of nature’s normal duties.
Disabled people are competent in giving birth,
They are eligible for job
They are eligible of taking care of kids
Disabled people are ‘normal’ in all their ways ad they are very good and fit and can do what everyone else can do.
