The Okada Riders Association of Ghana has responded to the National Road Safety Authority’s (NRSA’s) goal to prepare motorcyclists as it expresses that it is double-dealing of the NRSA to arrange preparing for motorcyclists.
As indicated by the Association, it is hard to appreciate how an Authority that is against the business utilization of bikes will prepare riders.
In his discussion with Samuel Eshun on the Happy Morning Show, Public Relations Officer of the Association, Solomon Akpanaba, scrutinized the mode and aim of the preparation.
“Some time back, it was distributed in the Daily Graphic that the NRSA had concurred that Okada should be regularized. Today we don’t have a clue what they have heard or what they have seen, they have now returned to state that Okada can’t be regularized. After the decisions, you have come out to state you need to prepare us. It is safe to say that you will prepare us as riders or you will prepare us as Okada riders? We won’t ever consent to them on the grounds that there is such a lot of fraud”.
While he conceded that preparation was important to control the mishaps on our streets, he was of the view that Okada riders, even without preparing, have carried out their specialty with alert and as such there has been less instances of mishaps.
“These riders have not being prepared yet they have had the option to get Ghanaians to confide in the Okada framework. Any individual who is in a rush, picks Okada. They couldn’t care less about insights of mishaps. They actually take Okada on the grounds that they realize that not we all are evildoers”.
Solomon thought that the NRSA should invest in amounts of energy in preparing all street clients on the most proficient method to evade street mishaps instead of focusing on just Okada riders.
The National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) and the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) have progressed arrangements to reveal a complete preparing program on street security for motorcyclists.
The move is important for measures to guarantee that clients of cruisers and tricycles hold fast carefully to street traffic guidelines to help decrease the expanding pace of street fatalities including bikes.
The Director-General of the NRSA, Mrs May Obiri-Yeboah noticed that while there is a conflict with if to legitimize Okada, the Authority actually thinks that its essential to prepare riders, since motorbikes are utilized for private and different purposes
