The Back satellite made Ghana proud last Saturday after winning The Total U20 Africa Cup of Nations for the fourth time. On arrival, President Akuffo Addo slashed $10,000 to the Black Satellite for their effort and achievement. The day and the manner the players won the cup is very significant to many Ghanaians since it fell on Ghana’s Independence day. The players fought gallantly to defeat the Ugandan U20 side 2:0 to bring the cup and the prize home.
The president congratulated them and gave each player $10,000 with $500 in cash with the remaining goes into 10 years investment plan. The president made the presentation on Tuesday March 9th, 2021 just after the state of the nations address. He rewarded the players in front of other dignitaries after the players and the GFA presented the cup to him at the Jubilee house. The team did not only bring home the ultimate prize but they also brought home other laurels. This include best Goalkeeper award and the best player award.
The best player, captain, best goalkeeper and the head coach of the side were also given $5000 each for their individual achievement. The victory made every Ghanaian proud as it coincides with Ghana’s 64th independence day celebrations.
