Doctors has been busted for trafficking 3 babies yesterday. For the past three months, Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) and Medical and Dental Association of Ghana has step up their crime check to monitor all those hospitals that sells stolen babies. It was some months ago when EOCO discovered one of the baby trafficking hospitals or syndicates in Ghana.
Again another four people who are involved in baby trafficking has been busted by EOCO. According to Mr. Frank Adu Poku, they have three healthy and safe babies in their custody waiting for final determination of the cases. He further explained that, on February 2020, they were alerted that two woman had allegedly purchased a baby from Susan Clinic in Lartebiokorshie a suburb in Accra.
The women were Florence Acquah and Eleanor Ofori Nsiah together with the doctor involved Dr. Hope Quarshie Mensah of the aforementioned Clinic. Additionally, Dr. Noah Kofi and Nancy Obaayaa Lartey was also arrested in Tema General Hospital for also engaging in baby trafficking. Mr. Adu Poku said the two are currently on enquiry bail.
The EOCO boss also said, in 2016 a woman was rushed to the 37 Military Hospital but he was referred by the same Dr. Hope to go to certain hospital due to the lack of bed in the hospital and upon delivery the doctor later told her that the baby could not make it. According to the mother who is a banker, he heard the baby crying yet the busted Dr. Hope told her the baby didn’t make it alive.
Mr. Adu Poku also issued warning to all hospitals and doctors who are in this child trafficking syndicate to stop before they are all exposed.
