Dansoman: 5 Arrested With Counterfeit Currencies

A group of five people have been arrested by a team of policemen from the Dansoman District Police Command in a hotel named Bean Lodge at Dansoman.

A pistol was retrieved by the police who assumed it belongs to one of the suspects. The police believed these suspects operating in a room in the Bean Lodge at Dansoman were into the production of counterfeit currencies.

Their names were given as Bismarck Tawiah, Akwasi Boateng, alias Honourable; Michael Marfo Ohene, alias Ghost; Richard Walker and Prince Nketiah. ‘The police found 108 wads of counterfeit dollars, a wooden box holding 34 wads of counterfeit CFA and a number of GH₵200 notes alleged to be counterfeit, with some white powdery substance on them and buried in an ice chest’. A genuine Ghana cedis notes were found in the room with unspecified amount.

According to the Public Relation Officer (PRO) of the Accra Regional Police Command, DSP Mrs. Effia Tenge, voiced out that the police received a prompt around 3pm last Tuesday about the doings of the suspects. Straightaway, she believed, a team of policemen from the Dansoman District Police Command was forwarded to the hotel where these five suspects were operating and all were arrested. An investigation has begun into the problem since a statement of the suspects have since taken.
