Edo: Man Murder Wife Over TV Remote Control And N2,000 Loan

Mr. John Christopher, who purportedly murdered his wife over TV remote control and N2,000 loan in Edo State, has publicized that she insulted after refusing to give him money. It was informed that the police arrested Mr. John Christopher, a father of three who murdered his wife, Mrs. Isoken Christopher after she refused to give him an amount of N1,500.

Mr. Christopher, a garbage truck driver, who is mostly labeled as a chain smoker and drunk by the eldest of his children, Augustine, beat the 30 year old businesswoman to death at their home located at No. 1, Agbontaen Street beside Ebvareke Secondary School, off Agboniro Street, Uselu, Benin, the Edo State capital on Saturday night, June 26. The woman collapsed and died as said after Mr. John used his belt to spank her over TV Remote Control.

“I am a waste management truck driver in Benin City and have been married to my wife for thirteen years now. We have three children, and the first child is twelve”, said the suspect.

“On the Jun 26, 2021, I returned from work around 9pm and begged my wife to give me the sum of N1,500 so I can add my N500 to make N2,000 to pay a local debt in the neighborhood”, he added.

“But my wife refused, and the next thing I saw was that she collected Television remote to change the TV channel. So I stopped her, and she started insulting me. That was how I used my trouser belt to hit her and she collapsed. The neighbor rushed her to the hospital where she died.” he added.

Later, John made an attempt to run away after apprehending his wife had died. He was recommend to the police at the Textile Mill road in Benin City, then later to the State Criminal Investigation Department of the Edo State for further investigation. The Police Command of the Edo State called for calm from the late family as further investigation is underway and assures them that Mr. John would be charged to court of murder.
