GES To Recruit Private Colleges of Education Teachers – MoE

The Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) before the end of this year will consider newly trained teachers from private Colleges of Education for recruitment, the Minister for Education, Dr Yaw Adutwum said on Wednesday.

In an interview with the minister said clearance have been granted to the Ministry of Education to recruit over 16,000 teachers this academic year including private trained teachers.

“We have received clearance for the Director-General of the GES to recruit 16,850 new teachers into the service, majority of teachers to be recruited are from public Colleges but those from private will also be included,” Adutwum stated.

The Education Minister Stated that the Ghana Education Service (GES) are working hand in hand to ensure classrooms in the country are occupied with teachers.

Prof Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa, the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service as his outfit prepares to recruit newly trained teachers has urged for them to accept postings to serve at places where services are needed.

He last week told the media said plans are far advanced for Management of the Service to open the GES recruitment portal for qualified trained teachers from public Colleges of Education to submit applicants for employment.

“An attempt to deny your place of postings will be forfeited by the applicant and the opportunity will be given to an interested applicant,” the GES Director – General warned new teachers to be recruited into service before December 31.

According to the Education Service Director-General, a special motivational package will be given to newly trained teachers who will be posted to remote areas where vacancies are available and services are needed.

Prof Opoku said his outfit under the auspices of the Ministry of Education (MoE) has partnered with the World Bank to support and enhance the standard of teaching and the lives of both students and teachers in remote areas.
