H.E Dr. Joseph Nii Sai Coffie-Agoe Meets Governor-General His Excellency General, David Hurley AC DSC (RETD) As He Introduces His letter

H.E Dr. Joseph Nii Sai Coffie-Agoe has introduced the Letters of Credence accrediting him as High Commissioner of the Republic of Ghana to the Commonwealth of Australia, to the Governor, Excellency David Hurley AC DSC (RETD), in a brief but impressive ceremony at the Government House in Canberra .

Following the formal accreditation ceremony, H.E Dr. Joseph Coffie-Agoe had a heart to heart with the Governor-General, during which the two deliberated on Ghana-Australia relations, as well as on a wide range of issues of mutual interest.

At the beginning, H.E Dr. Joseph Coffie-Agoe offered his thanks for the occasion to serve his nation in this novel capacity.

He further communicated his appreciation for the warm gathering accorded him and his family since their arrival in Australia. The High Commissioner recognized Australia for the powerful manner in which the coronavirus pandemic has been managed, including the exacting quarantine protocols in place which the High Commissioner and his life partner experienced firsthand on arrival.

The High Commissioner saw that a large portion of the State Capitals in Australia were open for normal business because the coronavirus had been very much contained and network transmission eliminated in many of the urban communities, for example, Canberra where the Mission is located.

At the bilateral level, H.E Dr. Joseph Coffie-Agoe noted with amuse, the healthy state of Ghana-Australia relations which were fashioned since Ghana regained its independence some 63 years ago. The High Commissioner intimated that these relations which cover a wide range of areas, including political, monetary, socio-cultural and education have become stronger to strength.

He, nonetheless, noticed that financial relations could be further improved, particularly with the coming into power of the Africa Continental Free Trade Area. In that regard, H.E the High Commissioner has chosen to initiate conversations with the Australia Africa Chamber of Commerce, with the view to holding a progression of virtual trade and investment advancement fora.

H.E Dr. Joseph Coffie-Agoe highlighted the various types of help Ghana has gotten from Australia towards the attainment of her national improvement goals and communicated appreciation for that. He particularly referenced the scholarship awards reached out to Ghanaian nationals and Public Sector officials to seek after Master’s and PHD programs, in disciplines that are critical to Ghana’s national turn of events.

The High Commissioner equally refered to other types of help, for example, Australia’s offer to share her ability in the area of mining and outlined advancement made by Ghana in fighting illegal mining, as well as Government’s continued endeavors to eradicate the menace, while counting on Australia’s continued help.
