Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the North Tongu Member of Parliament (MP) has filched Embassies using visa considerations as a weapon to influence Ghanian lawmakers to support LGBTQ+.

Recently, Dr. Arthur Kennedy who is the leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) revealed that, some MP’s risk not being given visa because of the Anti-LGBTQ+ bill which is currently before parliament.

He also stated that he’s not going to put the blame on the bill yet will reapply to ensure that he confirms that its because of the bill.

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa couldn’t understand why Embassies will use visa consideration as a bait to force voted lawmakers to support LGBTQ+.

He believes that the Foreign Affairs Ministry should be up and doing and remind Embassies that Ghana will reciprocate whatever they intend to do.

“It’s most primitive, an unmitigated affront and a grave assault on our sovereignty for any country to use visa considerations as a weapon to influence the decision of duly elected Ghanaian lawmakers. Our Foreign Ministry must promptly serve notice that the principle of reciprocity will apply to any nation that embark on this reckless and provocative path”.
