A staff of Ecobank Ghana Ltd, Prince Sam Essuman has been sentenced for twelve years in jail by the Tema Circuit Court B for stealing.
The Ecobank staff was found remorseful quashing monies belonging to SIC Ltd and the customers of the bank.
Rendering to the prosecutor, DSP Asamani, he was to accept money and deposit slips from affected customers, stamp and give back a duplicate to the clients but however, he would go pear-shaped to credit the back accounts and also do away with the bank’s copy of the deposit slip in so doing stopping the bank from knowing that any money had been deposited.
It’s only when the customers put to rights their accounts and recognized the theft.
The judge, Her Lordship, Mrs Bertha Anin-Agyei in passing judgment the convict noted that rendering to the Bank of Ghana fraud report, there’s is an escalation in bank fraud and most times, it’s the staff who are culprits or who help others to compel such crimes.
The convict was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment on each of the crime counts and the terms are to run concurrently.
